A photographer’s guide to working in a post-pandemic world

The past couple of months have seen industries return to work with enough consideration for the health of workers. Large and small studios have started to welcome clients given that they follow strict health protocols to prevent the further spread of COVID-19. Ram Chary Everi

Working in a post-pandemic world poses different challenges for various industries. People are still encouraged to stay home despite lockdown measures now becoming lax. As much as possible, photographers must decline shoots in public places, as the threat of the virus is as great as before. Should studios and clients demand for a shoot in public places, be sure to wear a mask at all times and maintain a safe distance from other individuals to reduce the risk of transmission. Remember to clean your gear once you get home. The virus can stick to surfaces. Be sure to wipe all gear pieces clean to be ready for the next shoot. For the time being, refrain from borrowing other pros’ gear. Sharing of equipment pieces should be limited to reduce the risk of contracting the virus. Offer to shoot clients at the comfort of their own home, either in person or through FaceTime. This way, photographers can practice shooting wide and directing subjects through a different channel. When income is meager due to limited shoots, consider holding a photography workshop online. Teach budding photographers some photography basics and tricks to make up for the lack of income. Consider helping other businesses by creating a product photography studio at home and offering your services for a fair price. Ram Chary Everi.
